No not a miss-print or practical joke. The Under 11 A side overcame stiff opposition today to progress into the County Cup Final which will played on the 10 May. Match summary by Jay Hogg follows ……

Wealdstone under 11A entertained Hampstead in the semi final of the county cup and it promised to be a thriller after Wealdstone knocked Hampstead out of the league cup 4th round 3-2 in extra time earlier in the season and they wanted revenge.

The game started with Wealdstone massively on the front foot controlling the game and playing some good football. The first chance of the game fell to top scorer Donte who’s effort went narrowly over the bar. Wealdstone then went ahead 10 minutes into the game a fantastic tackle by Luke at left back on the half way line who played a great ball to Donte he then played in Jacob who unleashed an unstoppable strike into the top corner to put us 1-0 up. It was soon 2-0 again some good defensive work by Reece a good ball forward to Jacob who cut inside played a great square ball for on coming Ryan to smash the ball low and hard into the bottom corner, his 19th goal of a very good season. Hampstead did then apply some pressure but everything they threw at us was dealt with by George, Reece Luke and Jake in goal. The boys in midfield ran there socks off Ryan, George, Lui, Domm Jacob and Lewis never stopped running on a very large pitch they boys covered every blade of grass and can be extremely proud of there work rate. Donte and Bobby when he came on applied non stop pressure from the front, Donte giving his opponents no peace and constantly putting them under pressure forcing mistakes.

The half time whistle went with Wealdstone 2-0 up and looking very good.

The message at half time was its 0-0 do not get complacent and the next goal is massive. The boys reacted to this and went out and put some more pressure on Hampstead George little hit and effort wide after some good defensive work yet again. Hampstead then had 2 very good opportunities the first was denied by a superb slide tackle by captain George little the second was denied by a very impressive save by Jake coming off his line 1 0n 1 to beat the striker.
Hampstead continued to pile on the pressure and had a corner, Wealdstone headed the corner away and 30 seconds latter it was 3-0 Donte picked the ball up on the edge of his own box ran 60 yards beating the defender and slotting the ball past a helpless Hampstead keeper. The game was still in the balance and the boys kept there concentration, they worked hard and never stopped running. It was soon 4-0 Donte battled his way into the opposition penalty area only to be hacked down and a penalty awarded, up stepped Donte looking to score a very impressive 50th goal of the season, and he made no mistake sending the keeper the wrong way and putting the stones 4-0 up and cruising into there first county cup final.
Hampstead never gave up and went with 3 up front and it worked they put us under some very good pressure forcing Jake to make another excellent save and with 5 minutes to go they scored twice, the first from our corner despite having 3 defenders back some very sloppy defending making it 4-1, and in the final minute Hampstead grabbed another consolation goal to make it Wealdstone FC 4 Hampstead 2.
Men of the match Donte for non stop work rate and 2 great goals and Captain George Little for a excellent defensive performance.
A superb team performance boys congratulations on reaching your first cup final, still unbeaten all season but a lot of work ahead. Cup final is 10th may and we want as much support as possible the boys deserve it
