Walking Football Strolls into Hayes 20150909_Better walking football

Better centre Botwell Green Sports and Leisure Centre in Hayes has launched a Walking Football session as part of Botwell Green Sports and Leisure Centre’s Over 55’s Club programme.

The FA and Wealdstone FC in partnership with charitable social enterprise GLL are aiming to increase participation among the over 50’s in the Hayes area at Botwell Green Sports and Leisure Centre, which is operated by GLL on behalf of the council under its Better brand.

Walking Football is a great spin on the beautiful game. The slowed down pace limits players to walking rather than running. Run and concede a foul. Walking Football is a great way to exercise and meet new people, both men and women participate in the session with varying abilities and everyone is made to feel welcome.

The sessions take place on Thursdays, 12.15pm till 1pm, either Outdoors on the 3G pitch (session will run till 1.30pm) or indoors in the Sports Hall. Weather permitting. Better Club members can participate for free, non-members and local residents 50 years plus will have to pay £2 a session.

Nick Symmons, Director of the Wealdstone FC Football Foundation Trust, commented, “We are so pleased to come on board with GLL and the Better Over 55s Club in order to be able to offer the increasingly popular activity of Walking Football at the excellent facilities of Botwell Green Sports and Leisure Centre. I am convinced that the expertise the Foundation can provide both in organisation and coaching when linked to the enthusiasm of Club members will result in an enjoyable and successful activity, and long may it continue!”

As part of the Wealdstone FC Foundation Trust activities the club are pleased to announce that JJ’s Summer Club will be running a half-term soccer during the week of Mon 26 Oct to Fri 30 Oct at The Vale. Timings and cost details can be found in the attached ‘flyer & application form’ –Summer Club Application Form

Predict-a-score (a short note from Tony S)

Sorry for the tardiness in getting the first table out but a combination of holidays and a minor computer problem haven’t helped.

My holidays also created problems in getting in entries and to that end we have had to date around 80 entries, as opposed to last year’s 106. I find that I will be away for the whole of the start of next season so to avoid any future problems I will be giving up running this competition, certainly for next year and would ask if there is anyone who would be willing to take this competition on?

Please contact me via my email at if you would be interested and we can meet to discuss further on what needs to be done.

With just 80 entrants this season the Prize money pot has been adjusted to:-

1st Prize-£250
2nd Prize-£150
3rd Prize-£100
4th Prize-£50

There will still be a pay-out of £50 for the Leader and £25 for the Second placed person after the Boxing Day game.

The latest table (up to Fri 11 Sep) can be found HERE

12th Stone
And finally, this Thu (17 Sep) another ’12th Stone’ briefing session will be held in the Aquarium Bar at the RSC commencing at 19:30. Presentations by Howard Krais, Paul Rumens, Gordon Bartlett and Mark Winworth will provide supporters an opportunity to receive a ‘state of the club’ update from key individuals, to listen to the current planning which is being undertaken across the spectrum of financials, team affairs, commercial, marketing, etc. and to ask questions and voice their opinions – ALL welcome.
