50th Anniversary of Famous FA Amateur Cup Final Win – Celebration Lunch
16th April 2016 is the 50th anniversary of Wealdstone FC winning the FA Amateur Cup at Wembley Stadium. We are keen to mark such an important milestone in the Club’s history and to recognise the achievements of the players that got us to the Final.
On this day we have a home National League South fixture versus Maidenhead United FC and we have invited the surviving members of the ’66 campaign to join us for a lunch celebration and to watch the match afterwards.
We will also be selling tickets to supporters when they go on sale in The New Year. Ticket price will be about £35.00.
What we would ask you to do is pass this information on to as many people as might be interested. There will be opportunities during the day to meet the team of ’66 and have your photo taken with the players.
There must be supporters who attended the match in ’66 that would have memorabilia from the day. We would like to see photos, press cuttings or anything else that we could display during the celebration day. Please let Derek Tomlin know if you have anything we could borrow for the day.
One thing you could help us with now is trying to find the outside right, Brian Allen. Despite all our efforts we can’t trace him and with such a common name, the usual searches are proving fruitless. If anyone knows of Brian Allen’s whereabouts then please contact Derek Tomlin.
Earlier this season we celebrated 30 years since the double winners of 1985. Fifty years since 1966 is another incredible milestone and we want to make this a memorable day for the Club and especially the team of ’66 and those supporters who were there on the day.
More details in the New Year but if you would like to get involved please contact Derek Tomlin or speak to Howard Krais, Mark Winkworth or Nick Symmons.
