Next Up – Stones v Eastbourne Boro – Sat 9th Aug KO 3.00pm
The waiting is almost over! Wealdstone’s exciting adventure into the relative unknown of the Vanarama Conference South starts this Saturday 9th August when Eastbourne Borough arrive at The Vale, kick off 3pm.
Saturday’s eagerly awaited clash will, without doubt, provide a stern test for Gordon Bartlett’s promoted men and will be the start of a steep learning curve in a league that is only one step away from the full time ranks and where expansive playing budgets are the norm.
Wealdstone’s highly experienced manager will be the first to admit that whilst close season preparations have been very positive they have also been somewhat disrupted by late activity. Nevertheless the squad is ready and raring to go and a fascinating match is in prospect at a refreshed Vale also now complete with a brand new match day catering service
Eastbourne experienced a mixed campaign last term finishing in a respectable mid table position having earlier reached the fringes of the play off positions. Their squad will feature some excellent players and notably have Richard Pacquette up front who will be out to test the Stones well drilled defence.
The Sussex seaside club formally known as Langney Sports have an interesting history, having progressed and developed rapidly over the last decade. They have previous Conference National experience and their Manager Tommy Widdrington will be aiming to get them back amongst the front runners come the end of the season
Admission is Adults £12, Concessions £7, Under 16’s £2. If you hold a COMMUNITY SHIELD ticket for the game on Sunday 10th Aug you can gain entrance for half price (£6) on production of your ticket
If you are planning to use the Tube to get to get to the game on Saturday there are planned engineering works on the Met & Piccadilly Lines and a replacement bus service will be in operation. The Central Line service to Ruislip Gardens should be operating as normal (out of the station turn right and walk for 10-12 minutes, or cross the road and jump on the E7 bus up to Grosvenor Vale).
