Glen Little moves on from Wealdstone

glen_little_002Following discussions with Wealdstone FC Manager Gordon Bartlett over his future, Glen Little has made the very diffficult decision to leave the Stones and make a move to Ryman Division One North side Heybridge Swifts. Glen played a pivotal part in Wealdstone’s championship winning season and proved to be a very astute signing in the midfield with his huge experience in the Premiership and professional football.

Whilst Glen’s move is disappointing it is not entirely unexpected with travelling and family issues being very understandable factors in the decision to transfer to the Essex club which is nearer his home and from whom he has received a good offer. Gordon Bartlett confirmed the reasons for the move and was highly praiseworthy of Glen’s contribution last season; he said: ‘ It’s always disappointing when a player of Glen’s quality moves on, but we must be grateful for his outstanding contribution both on and off the field last season. He was a shining example of the true professional he has been and was a massive influence on our success last year.

‘His personal situation and the fact he is a year older and we have gone up a level have all been factors in the combined decision. After a long discussion, we both felt it was the right decision for everyone concerned. Glen is aware we need to continue building for the future which has made this a very amicable departure as both sides can see the others point of view. We thank him for his short but successful time with us and wish him every success as he joins his good friend at Heybridge Swifts.’
