Whiteknights (Reading) 2 – 3 Wealdstone Ladies
The Stones ladies knew they were in a game on Sunday(22/01) and from the first whistle both teams only a win on their minds. Wealdstone pressured the Whiteknights from the start and although the Stones had the run of play the hosts were awarded a penalty which was well saved by the Stones keeper, Kerry Guthrie.
Stones soon hit back and Katie Harling finished in style with a quality goal, but the first half finished 1-1 with both sides playing well and determined to claim all the points on offer.
Whiteknights were first to score in the second half but again Stones came back and substitute Claire Holden scored the away side’s second and equalising goal. Rosie Watts, Nicola Dixon and Catherine Fahy all had shots on target, but the home keeper did a fine job keeping her side in the contest. With only two minutes left, Wealdstone were awarded a free kick which Stevie Wickes took and scored via the top corner, a fantastic goal, ending the game 3-2 to Wealdstone.
