Wealdstone Ladies 11 – 1 California

The Stones got into their stride very quickly on Sunday(6/11) at The Vale, and after just 5 minutes Nicola Dixon scored her first goal. Minutes later a well placed pass from Rebecca  Mills saw Dixon score her second. Claire Holden played a solid game in the midfield spraying passes to her forwards

The girls attacked the California goal continuously with great attempts from Catherine Fahy and Nicola Dixon. Stevie Wickes scored with a header from a Nicola Dixon corner. After a goal mouth scramble Catherine Fahy notched up her first goal and then Rebecca Mills ran a brilliant solo effort from the back and was denied a goal by shooting just over the bar.

California scored a goal which gave them some hope, but Nicola Dixon scored her third goal with some clever footwork.. Half time score 5- 1.

The Stones came out strongly after a stern team talk from the Manager. This did the trick as Katie Harling scored soon after the whistle.

California hand-balled in the area, and a penalty was awarded; the goalie went the right way, but Stevie Wickes shot was too strong. The Stones kept attacking the California goal and Catherine Fahy scored again and Nicola Dixon scored a further two goals. An accurate pass from Fiona Williamson put through Stevie Wickes to complete her hat-trick.

Again this week, all the team put in 100% and this was reflected in the score.

Wealdstone:  Kerry Guthrie, Rebecca Mills, Sophie Mooney, Stevie Wickes, Fiona Williamson, Katie Harling, Nadia ElKandl, Rosie Watts, Claire Holden, Leah Gibson, Nicola Dixon, Catherine Fahy.
