Stones to face Puritans in FA Trophy clash on Saturday

Wealdstone travel to Banbury United and the Spencer Stadium on Saturday for an intriguing FA Trophy 3rd Qualifying Round clash, with both sides hoping to get through to the First Round Proper for a possible money spinning tie against one of the ex football league Conference big boys.

To get to this stage of the competition The Puritans have overcome Leighton Town with a narrow 1-0 win and then a 3-1 victory was secured over Paulton Rovers when Banbury were reduced to 10 men in the second half.

The danger man for Banbury is undoubtedly their young striker Will Green who has so far notched up 11 goals prior to last weekend and will pose a threat for the Stones defence. In the back division Banbury feature recently returned Skipper Liam Dolman, a very experienced ex Kidderminster Harriers man, who has a strong reputation and a player that can dominate a tight game.

Stones will be looking to get back to winning ways following their disappointing league defeat to Canvey Island last Saturday. Lee Chappell is likely to be out with a broken finger but Scott McCubbin should be available following illness.
