Danny Burnell signs for Stones

Wealdstone have made their first summer signing with the capture of prolific striker Danny Burnell from newly promoted Zamaretto side Chesham United.

The front man endured a frustrating time at The Meadow last season with suspension, injury and loan spells at Farnborough and Weston-super-Mare meaning his game time for Andy Leese’s side was somewhat limited.

However, the feisty Burnell has been a major part of United’s success in recent seasons and was joint winner of the Zamaretto Midland Division “Golden Boot” Award in the 2008 season with 27 goals. He has scored 90 goals in more than 150 appearances for The Generals and Stones Manager Gordon Bartlett is delighted to have brought Danny to the The Vale for the new Ryman campaign.
