Daly signs for Wealdstone
Stones have today signed ex Wycombe Wanderers striker George Daly, 19, to bolster their attacking options. Daly made his Wycombe first team debut against Brentford on Boxing Day 2007. The forward joined Wanderers at the age of 13 after impressing in a trial period, and went on to become the top scorer in the Blues U16 team.
After signing his first apprenticeship contract in 2007, Daly scored 11 goals before Christmas for the Blues U18s – including three hat-tricks, and earned a call up to the senior squad for the first time for the home match with Macclesfield. He featured in the Blues’ clashes with Brentford and Shrewsbury at the end of 2007, and received rave reviews from the then manager Paul Lambert.
After completing his apprenticeship at the club a year ago, George was offered a one year professional contract; the young striker began last season on-loan at Blue Square Premier side Hayes and Yeading where he proved to be a big hit, grabbing two goals in his first three games including a man-of-the-match performance in the 1-1 draw with big guns York City.
Daly has subsequently been released by Wycombe and Stones Manager Gordon Bartlett has swooped to sign him after the Lowestoft Town defeat.
It is possible that Daly could feature against Croydon on Wednesday evening
