GB pleased with pre season – now it’s down to business

As Wealdstone prepare to face a revitalised Billericay Town side in Essex on Saturday , Stones Manager Gordon Bartlett is quietly
confident of his side’s ability to make a solid start to the new campaign.

Speaking exclusively on the Wealdstone FC Information line, he said: ‘I have been very pleased with pre season preparations and in most
games we have passed the ball very well and our shape has looked good. We have continuity with most of the players from last season
staying with us and we have added a few and the spirit in the squad is excellent. Injuries are our only problem going into the weekend but
we will cope’

Amongst those that maybe doubtful for Saturday are Ryan Ashe and Greg Ngoyi but Stones have some options up front but will need to be on
the alert in Essex as Billericay’s new Manager Brian Statham has largely reshaped his side and brought in some stalwarts from his old
side Heybridge Swifts.

Bartlett still has some decisions to make before Saturday as to whether to sign a couple more players that have impressed and have been on
his summer shopping list.

‘There are some decisions to make before Saturday and the financial aspect has a huge bearing on things – that hasn’t gone away; the
100:400 scheme has allowed us to function but we need supporters to turn pledges into actual contributions now and to help in any way they
can’ said GB who is entering his 15th season in charge of the Stones. ‘Timings are important with getting players in but I am happy with
the way things have gone’

Commenting on Jimmy Gray’s sending off at Hitchin, GB said: ‘ it was stupid and James knows this – it will cost us and him 3 games’
