STONES TO CELEBRATE 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE 1985 DOUBLE
Wealdstone FC is planning the biggest lunch event in the club’s recent history on Saturday September 12th 2015, when WEALDSTONE’S LEGENDARY DOUBLE-WINNING SIDE arrives at the Vale for a 30th Anniversary Celebration!
Skipper Paul Bowgett and his record-breaking 1985 team – the first-ever to win the non-League ‘double’ – will sit down with 100 fans to enjoy a four-course meal to remember that great day. Anecdotes of the Conference-winning season, culminating in the dramatic win over Boston United at Wembley to lift the FA Trophy, will bring the memories flooding back for the lucky diners. There will be a question-and-answer session and Andy Graham can talk us through his famous opening goal! The luncheon will precede the Chelmsford City match with events kicking off from 11.30am on the day and carrying on throughout!
Michelin-trained chef Bryn Griffith (of Rollin’ Kitchen fame) and his team will be providing top-notch food, while everybody present will receive a valuable memento of the occasion. There will also be a grand auction specific to the era.
The vast majority of the much-loved team of ’85 have pledged to be there. Skipper Bowg… Dennis Byatt… Steve Perkins… Brian Greenaway… Mark Graves… Gary Donnellan… Robin Wainwright… Alan Cordice… Neil Cordice… Andy Graham. Even Vinnie Jones (if he is in the country that weekend) will join officials from that era like club secretary Peter Braxton, Coach Tony Caruana, director Fred Deanus and perhaps even chairman David Morritt. And manager Brian Hall’s widow Angela will hopefully be representing her husband on a memorable day.
Tickets, priced at £69.00, are available from the club via Wealdstone FC President Paul Rumens, who said: “It’s been 20 years since we last got the double winning team together and for many of us fans it was this team that cemented our love affair for this great club, so don’t be the one to miss out as tickets are expected to sell very quickly due to the limited numbers available”
Tickets can be paid to the club by BACS or cheque or cash
