Dennis Strudwick – GM of the Football Conference calls it a day……
The National League reluctantly announces it has received notification from Dennis Strudwick of his plan to retire “in the coming months”. No fixed date has been set for his departure: it is more important to have a correct strategy in place before beginning the search for a replacement, enabling a professional handover when the time comes.
After more than 50 years involvement in the game as a player and an administrator, Dennis was one of 150 servants in football to be selected by the Football Association to receive a Grass Roots Hero medal in 2013, presented by Prince William.
Dennis’ last 8 years have been spent as the General Manager of the Football Conference but he is now planning for the Referee’s final whistle to blow, signalling the end of his working career.
Chairman Brian Barwick stated “Dennis has been the central cog in all that has happened in the Competition since he joined in 2007. He has spent a lifetime in the game and was further honoured by the Football Association at our recent AGM. We are grateful that Dennis has agreed to oversee the start of the new season before he retires to a ‘seat in the stands”.
