Wealdstone Ladies 4 -1 Enfield Town Ladies

Wealdstone Ladies started their new campaign  in the Greater London Womens Football League Division One  with a 4-1 victory over Enfield Town Ladies on Sunday at The Vale.

The Stones started kicking up the slope and never looked back after a second minute sublime finish from new signing Lauren Cunningham which set the tone for the day. Two more goals from another of the new acquisitions Annie Hewitt the first on 14 minutes, the second on 45 minutes saw the Stones go in 3- 0 up at half time.

Wealdstone made a couple of changes at half time which made it a more even match in the second half. Enfield Town began to get into the match and after 20  minutes pulled a goal back when Enfield sub, Michele Tyler looped the ball over keeper Amanda Russell into the top left corner.

The Captain Rebecca Mills in her new role in midfield started pulling the strings and the Stones began to play neat football. A few minutes later, Ruby Juchau was unlucky when her curling shot beat the keeper only to hit the post. This was quickly followed by Rosie Watts also hitting the same woodwork. Lauren Hole secured the victory with a fourth, which was a fine solo effort.

Next week the Stones will be entertained by AFC Wimbledon Ladies Development team and look to continue their fine start to the season.

Also next week the Wealdstone Ladies Reserves start their campaign in the Greater London Womens Football League Division Two (North) with a home game versus Tower Hamlets at The Vale Kick-off 14:00.
