Mark Bentley leaves Stones + Bath City (home) switch

mark_bentley_001Former Gillingham midfielder Mark Bentley has decided to leave the club. Mark’s heavy work commitments and travelling were making getting to games very challenging and with no guarantee of a place in the side he has understandably decided to move on, but he leaves the Stones on excellent terms.

Wealdstone Manager Gordon Bartlett said: ‘ We couldn’t guarantee Mark a place in the side with so much competition in the midfield. He has really enjoyed his time at the club and wishes us all well for the coming campaign. Likewise we wish Mark all the very best; his professional attitude on and off the pitch in helping us win the league last season was plain to see. It was unfortunate that fitness meant that Mark didn’t get the minutes he undoubtedly deserved and we totally understand his difficulty with the travelling and wanting to play at this stage of his career. We wish him well’

Meanwhile, Welsh striker Jay Brockway has also moved on following trials.

The Club have also announced with England playing Switzerland in a Euro Qualifier on Monday 8th September, the same night as our league fixture with Bath City, both clubs have agreed to move the game to the following evening, Tuesday 9th September, kick-off 7-45pm
