Weekend Review – 21st to 23rd Sep

There’s a feast of tasty Ryman Premier League football at Grosvenor Vale this weekend as the Stones take on newly-promoted Thamesmead Town on Saturday (3pm) before facing the only other unbeaten team in the league – Lewes – on Monday night (7.45pm)

Thamesmead have never faced Wealdstone before and arrive with the enthusiasm of a team adjusting to life in the higher division. We also welcome up to nineof the Stones Junior teams to the game – the youngstersresplendent in their blue and whitekit asSaturday is team photo time!
We encourage everyone to arrive early and enjoy the football on the big screen in the club house before seeing the Stones in action.

Thamesmead and Lewes Prog cover 13_14

Lewes are expected to bring a decent following for Monday night’s clash of the Ryman Premfront runners … the Sussex side have improved enormously on last season and have won four and drawn five of their opening nine games,also progressing in the FA Cupat Peacehaven & Telscombe last Saturday. This will be the toughest test of the season so far for Gordon Bartlett’s boys, and we anticipate a large Monday night crowd and a cracking atmosphere.

In between the First XI games Wealdstone Ladies make a little bit of history on Sunday when they travel to Leighton United Vixensfor their first-ever Women’s FA Cup tie. Thefirst qualifying round game kicks off at 12 noon. Leighton United have playedfive games so far this season, winningthree and losingtwo, whilst the Stones Ladies have wonone and drawn oneso far.

Good luck to leading goal-scorer Natalie Osman and the rest of the Ladies as they seek to progress in this prestigious competition. Full match report to follow next week!
