Wealdstone v Dartford Match Preview

A bumper crowd is expected at The Vale on Tuesday night (21 February) as Wealdstone take on Dartford in the replay of the FA Trophy 3rd round, kick-off 7.45pm.

The original tie was a fiercely fought contest as underdogs Stones twice came from behind to grab a richly deserved 2-2 draw, with a sublime headed goal from Chris O’Leary 10 minutes from time ensuring the two sides would have to meet again.

Wealdstone warmed up for Tuesday’s clash in the best possible fashion on Saturday as they ran out 5-2 winners over struggling Aveley, with goals from Richard Jolly (2), Lee Chappell, Scott Fitzgerald and an own goal, acting as the perfect springboard to cause an upset against the Conference South high fliers.

Dartford however suffered a big blow to their title aspirations as they were defeated 1-0 in their top of the table clash at Woking on Saturday. But it was only the Darts first defeat since mid December, and they will be looking to assert their higher league status and immediately bounce back from the weekend’s disappointment by booking their place in the FA Trophy quarter finals.

Whilst the odds will be stacked against Wealdstone they will continue to be quietly confident of progressing, in no small part thanks to the superb battling qualities the side has already shown on numerous occasions this season, most notably in the previous round when they came from behind to defeat Blue Square Premier side Barrow AFC . The Wealdstone fans will also play their part in creating a typically vociferous atmosphere for the opposition at The Vale as they get behind their beloved Stones to roar them into the next round.

Parking in the club car park will again be very limited on Tuesday evening and all supporters are advised to arrive early and park considerately in local roads.
