Pre-season update @ The Vale

We caught up with a beaming Gordon Bartlett just after another wet training session at The Vale on Saturday.

“I have been delighted with the pre-season so far. We have looked sharp and the spirit has been excellent. The boys have worked very hard in adverse conditions that I have not known the likes of in July. The mud and puddles have made it hard to find suitable areas to train on but the lads have adjusted to the conditions and the attitude over all the sessions has been first rate and there’s been a lot of fun to it in the mud as well!

As the fans will know we have signed Tommy Brewer and Rikki Banks and we are looking at others during the run in but it’s still early days yet.

Some of the squad are still away or just returning from their holidays so we will not risk people coming in too early from training and we are gearing everything at being ready for the league campaign on August 18th. There will definitely be some new faces in the pre-season games that have been training with us and doing well”

Stones opening friendly is this coming Saturday, 21 July, KO 3pm, when Watford FC are the visitors at The Vale. No advance tickets are being sold and it’s all pay at the turnstiles.

Parking will not be available on the grass areas due to the conditions so please park considerately on local roads. Fans are advised to arrive early at The Vale as a large crowd is anticipated and Ruislip Social Club will welcome all visitors.
