Berkhamstead Raiders 0 – 8 Wealdstone Ladies

STONES ON THE CHARGE FOR THE LEAGUE TITLE.

The pitch was rock hard at Berkhamsted, and the ball was difficult to control. Stones Catherine Fahy was first on the score sheet , with a clever goal in the first 10 minutes.

The Stones were the stronger side, with Emily Bermingham, Stevie Wickes and Nicola Dixon all having shots on goal. Stevie Wickes scored a sensational goal, with the keeper standing no chance of saving this cannon of a shot, then Nicola Dixon netted after threading her way past three players.  With two minutes left of the first half, Fiona Williamson scored a well timed volley.

Half time score Stones Ladies leading 4-0.

From the second half whistle, the Stones carried on playing well. Nicola Dixon had a shot on goal which was turned in by the Berkhamstead keeper. Lauren Simmons played a pin point ball to Nicola Dixon’s and she scored off the side of her boot – giving Nicola her hat-trick

Berkhamstead had few chances, but they got through Stones defence a couple of times, but the away side held firm. Wealdstone were awarded a penalty and Stevie Wickes made sure from the spot. Near the end of the half, Wealdstone had a corner which Stevie Wickes headed in, which gave her a hat-trick today. Final score: Wealdstone 8 Berkhamstead 0.
