Wealdstone Ladies 6 – 2 Watford Ladies

Wealdstone U18’s Girls played their first game on the main pitch at The Vale on Sunday 4th September in a friendly with Watford Ladies. In heavy rain and after only 5 minutes play, an accurate pass from Lauren Simmons created the chance for Rosie Wattswho scored a great goal for Stones.

Wealdstone were the stronger side with many strikes not far from goal; a well executed pass from Nicola Dixon, put through Rosie Watts again to score, leaving the Watford keeper with no chance. Just before half time, a penalty was awarded to Wealdstone and a superbly placed shot by Stevie Wickes put Wealdstone 3-0 ahead at half time.

Within two minutes of the second half whistle being blown, Stevie Wicks scored again. Lauren Simmons scored soon after with a solo effort from the half way line. By this time, Watford Ladies were becoming tired, and another goal came from Rosie Watts, who now claimed her hat-trick. Soon after, Wealdstone were down to 10 players as one of the girls sustained a dead leg from a tackle, and with another player injured at one stage Wealdstone were down to 9 players. Watford went on to score two goals but Wealdstone ran out comfortable winners in an excellent performance
