Wealdstone Ladies 6 – 2 Reading Ladies

{Matchplayed 11th Sep}

Wealdstone Ladies played their first league match at The Vale on Sunday. The game started in lively fashion as both teams were eager to get on the score sheet; after 20 minutes, Stones’ Nicola Dixon ran an amazing solo effort to open the scoring. Soon after, a Reading player sustained a bad injury and play was held up for a while before Reading had their first chance on goal

The game was of a high quality with Sophie Mooney and Stevie Wickes putting in good challenges and headers . A free kick allowed Wickes to strike a ball just over the bar.

A Stones forward lobbed the keeper and scored Wealdstones’s 2nd goal and then Nicola Dixon scored again with a chipped pass from Emily Bermingham. Reading won a corner and a great save from Stones keeper Kerry Guthrie kept the ball out.

With 10 mins of the first half to play, Wealdstone scored again.

Half Time Score – Wealdstone 4 – Reading 0

In the second half and Wealdstone came out very strongly with an attempt on goal in the first minute. However, Reading hit back and netted soon after but their joy was short lived as a skillfull pass from Roise Watts put Nicola Dixon through to chalk up her hat-trick. Soon after Dixon scored again with her 4th goal.

Near the end of the game Wealdstone again showed their complete dominance of the game hitting the bar twice.
