Stones face big Trophy Test on Saturday

Wealdstone take on a resurgent Uxbridge side in the FA Trophy First Round Proper on Saturday at The Vale, kick-off 3pm. Stones Manager Gordon Bartlett is confident his side have learnt from their recent FA Cup disappointment. The Stones suffered a shock home defeat to Beaconsfield Sycob in the Cup and Bartlett does not expect his side to make the same mistakes in the FA Trophy this weekend.
Bartlett told the Harrow Times this week: “On the day Beaconsfield were better than us and we needed a stronger work ethic. If we can do that then we will give ourselves a chance. “From what I have seen, we are learning from our experiences and disappointments. We have to apply ourselves properly because there is no doubt they will be fired up for the game.
“It is a local derby and they’ve been on a fantastic run, winning 15 of their last 17 games. They have been doing something right and beat Lowestoft last year so we certainly won’t be taking them lightly. “Our aim is to play against a Conference side but to do that we have to beat the teams at our level and lesser levels.”

Saturday’s match is all pay and supporters are advised to arrive early.
