St Georges Centre win stadium name

The St George’s Shopping Centre, Harrow, are the lucky winners of Wealdstone Football Club’s highly innovative stadium naming draw that took place before the recent postponed match with Ashford Town (Middx) at Grosvenor Vale.

Dozens of local businesses took part in the draw and the winner has the stadium naming rights until the end of next season (April 2011). The Vale Stadium will now be known as ‘St George’s Stadium’ and it is hoped this will be a great PR and advertising vehicle for that business.

St George’s Centre has 25 retail stores for visitors to choose from and a unique combination of retail and leisure including great cafes and restaurants like Ask, Prezzo and Starbucks as well as a superb Vue cinema, a Fitness First, Gymboree and Toni & Guy hairdressers.

Steve Kent, Manager of St George’s Centre said: ‘We are pleased to have been able to support our local team for so many years and it’s great to see them doing so well.’.

Wealdstone FC Chairman Howard Krais commented: ‘The St George’s Centre has been a long term supporter of the club and we look forward to deepening our relationship with them in the coming months.’

Wealdstone FC is currently enjoying a very successful season vying for a play-off place to take them into the Conference South, two rungs below Football League Two. In November the Stones reached the First Round Proper of the FA Cup, losing out very narrowly, 2-3, to professionals Rotherham United in front of a near 2,000 capacity crowd.
