Skipper James Gray leaves the Stones
The popular Yorkshireman made over 100 appearances for the Stones and scored 11 goals and endeared himself to the fans with his never say die attitude and combative style of play. Towards the end of last season Jimmy found it increasingly difficult to hold down a starting slot and was dogged by a series of injuries despite his well known resilience to these problems.
Stones manager Gordon Bartlett is saddened by Gray’s departure: ‘ Jimmy leaves by mutual agreement and with our very best wishes. He has been made a excellent offer by his local club, Arlesey Town and unfortunately we cannot guarantee anyone a starting position. He has been a great servant of this club and his commitment to the cause over the last few seasons has been an outstanding example to everyone. I cannot praise him highly enough and he will always be welcome at Wealdstone Football Club.’
