Third v Second Place Clash at the Vale this Saturday

Stones take on second in the table Canvey Island at The Vale this Saturday (3 October, kick off 3pm). Both sides have made a steady rise up the Ryman League Premier Division table and this contest will provide for a fascinating measure of progress and consistency. Whereas Wealdstone made further progress in the FA Cup last week when they overcame rivals Boreham Wood, the Gulls went out to another familar side, Tooting & Mitchum who defeated the Stones in the home league clash.

The Gulls sustained a few injuries last Saturday, with veteran Goalie Mel Capleton and outfielders Gabriel Fanibuyan and Jason Hallett having to be side lined. They will be hoping to bounce back against Wealdstone who will be without the suspended Charlie Mpi. A number of squad players came through the 5-1 friendly win at Ware on Tuesday evening, leaving a number of possible options available to the management team.

FA CUP

Stones will now face Lewes of the Conference South in the third qualifying round of the Cup on Saturday October 10 at The Vale, ko 3pm. Lewes dominated the tie at Fetchum Grove on Tuesday, eventually winning 1-0 aet and the Rooks will provide a very tough challenge indeed for Wealdstone as they look to gain much needed respite from the league.
