Stones beat the deep freeze

Wealdstone overcame the disappointment of yet another postponement on Saturday when their Ryman League Premier Division match against Billericay Town was called off following a morning pitch inspection at The Vale revealed a frozen pitch, by organising a friendly game with Hillingdon Borough at short notice.

Using Hillingdon’s excellent state of the art 3G artificial surface they were doubly grateful as the Stones ran riot over the Ryman Division One North struggler’s and netted 12 times without reply. On the score sheet were: Lee Chappell (2), Danny Spendlove (3), Ryan Ashe, Kieron Forbes, Davis Haule, David Hicks, Greg Ngoyi, Joe Stevens and a trialist.

Meanwhile, the club forged ahead with their Grand New Year Draw later on in the afternoon on Saturday and were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Hillingdon, Councillor Brian Crowe, to draw the winning tickets in the warmth of the Clubhouse.

The Club have announced that the half price admission offer due for the Billericay match will now apply to the home game at the Vale on Saturday 24 January when the Stones entertain Hendon FC, provided ticket stubs from the Harrow Borough match are produced at the
turnstiles.
