Gordon Bartlett receives Testimonial Match with Watford FC

Wealdstone FC will be holding a testimonial for Gordon Bartlett to mark his contribution to the club as manager over a remarkable 14 year period.

The testimonial will be against Brendan Rodgers’ Watford FC development squad on Saturday July 18th at The Vale, kick off 3pm.

Gordon, a former Portsmouth, Brentford and Denver Dynamos player has completed 955 matches as 1st Team Manager with the Stone. Together with assistant Leo Morris he joined Wealdstone in June 1995 at Ryman League Division 3 level having previously had very successful spells as manager of Yeading, Hounslow Town and Southall.
His first actual match in charge of Wealdstone was a Friendly on Tuesday 25 July 1995 at ASL Sports ground (Honeypot Lane, Stanmore) v North Greenford United which was won 4-0

Gordon’s first League match was on Saturday 19 August 1995 away to Cove in Isthmian League 3 when Stones won 9-1

Gordon, a UEFA ‘A’ licence holder, previously took Hounslow Town to promotion and League Cup success, led both Southall and Yeading to FA Vase finals at Wembley and also gained two promotions with Yeading from where he joined up with the Stones.

Since joining Wealdstone, Gordon has guided the team to four promotions and the winning of the Middlesex Charity Cup Final in 2004.

Wealdstone and Watford have a strong history and Gordon has formed fruitful links with the Hornets over recent seasons.

Highly rated Hornets players such as John Joe O’Toole, Theo Robinson, Marvin Sordell and Dale Bennett have been on successful loan spells at the club, and young striker Liam Henderson, recently offered an extended contract at the Hornets, also had a period at the Stones.
