Wealdstone FC statement
Following an incident that took place during the Harlow Town league match on Saturday 4th October, 2008, at Barrows Farm Stadium, David Hicks has made the following statement to supporters of Wealdstone FC.
“I regret what happened after I was substituted during the match at Harlow Town on Saturday. I fully accept that throwing my shirt off and reacting to a supporter was out of order and unprofessional but it was borne out of my frustration in the heat of the moment both at my performance on the day and by my desire to stay on the pitch to help turn the game around.”
Following continued discussions with the player, the Club has agreed with Hicks for the player to have a two week break from football. This is especially due to his current work commitments that have meant he has had to work away from home in recent weeks, something that has had a detrimental impact on his football, not least recent unavailability for training. The situation will be further assessed with Hicks in a fortnight.
